Design of an Automatic Test System for Diesel Inlet Swirl and Evaluation Methods

Abstract:

  Swirl is a key parameter that directly influences the efficiency and exhaust property of diesel engine. And it is usually measured and valued by a steady flow test system in designing and development process. This paper firstly presented the scheme of a highly automatic steady test bench, on which the valve lift and test pressure are all computer-controlled. Then it reviewed the varied measuring and analysis methods, and performed some corresponding experiments on the bench. The experiment results show that even under the same test condition,  the results are different if using different measuring or calculating techniques, which should be noticed in the comparison.

Lightening structure optimization on turbine wheel of vehicular turbocharger

Abstract: Based on basic principle of optimization design, structure optimization of turbine is conducted using optimization module of ANSYS and APDL in order to get the minimum turbine weight. Meanwhile, the original blade profile and flow passage are maintained, and the structural strength of the turbine are guaranteed. Considering assembly technique and cast requirement, the structure of the modified turbine is determined which can save 6.91 percent of the material compared with the original one. The modified turbine not only saved material, but also gained better effect of mass distribution between the turbine and the compressor impeller. The result can provide useful reference to engineering application of turbocharger.

Abstract:

The vehicles always undertake different loadings including external disturbances and the design of vehicle control system has model errors. The primary design techniques for 4WS controller are their inability to degrade the performance of closed-loop systems. The design of yaw rate tracking control system architecture by using μ synthesis robust control is presented and the weighting functions are selected. The results show that the control system has fine dynamic characteristic, robust stability and robust performance, and the 4WS vehicle with the proposed control strategy can provide greater maneuverability and driving safety.
